Mythical Island – Meta Decks

Celebi
Celebi ex + Serperior Core
A new Pikachu enters the ring, except even better than before. Celebi and Serperior form a great team with Serperior on the bench powering up grass energy so that Celebi can flip twice as many heads. It struggles a bit with set up so having a Caterpie to search for middle and final evolutions for your Serperior can be useful here; however, by your second turn, you can deal up to 100 damage even without having your bench ready (10 more than a fully powered up Pikachu). By your third turn you can take out Mewtwo ex with Celebi, and by your fourth you are able to deal more damage than the highest HP currently in the game.
The drawback of this deck is its heavy reliance on RNG associated with flipping coins for your attack. Don’t expect every match to go exactly your way. Celebi is also a bit glassier than some of the other ex Pokemon in play this season so having a good stall strategy while you set up if you brick your first hand will be helpful here.

Mythical Island – Remix Decks

Blastoise
Blastoise ex + Starmie ex Core
With a new Vaporeon to spice up water decks; Blastoise has a lot more opportunities to be useful. Previously, it took too much energy to power up Blastoise’s attack with 5 energy and with Misty’s indiscriminate tails you had to choose to power up Blastoise or something else that may be more useful quicker. Now with Vaporeon you can power up Starmie ex, use Misty on whomever and be able to course correct once your Blastoise is evolved up.
The goal will be to get Starmie ex out and in the active spot ASAP to start doing good damage right away, once you have either enough energy on Blastoise ex or a Vaporeon out and 5 energy in play, move Blastoise ex to the active spot and start hitting for 160 damage (enough to take out all the meta ex Pokemon in the format.

Genetic Apex – Meta Decks

Mewtwo
Mewtwo ex focuses on setting up Gardevoir on your bench so you can power up Mewtwo ex’s Psydrive attack. You only need one fully evolved Gardevoir on your bench then you can hit for 150 every turn after that. Use Mewtwo as a shield to protect your bench while you set up and attach all energy to your Mewtwo ex in the meantime. Keep a second Mewtwo ex on your bench to prevent Sabrina shenanigans.

Pikachu
Pikachu ex focuses on setting up a full bench of electric types to power up Circle Circuit by the second energy. Due to his lower HP its important to be able to attack right away before your opponent can set up. Having a second Pikachu ex set up can help with switching if your active Pokemon gets low on HP. Use Sabrina to force out your opponent’s lower level Ralts/Staryu/etc. to prevent them from being able to evolve later.
You want to fill in your Pokemon Slots with electric types to support Pikachu ex. Electrode, Zebstrika, and Raichu are common variations of this deck archetype.
